Inspired by an initiative of the Rouen diocese and in partnership with it, the aim of this project is to introduce artists' works (paintings, sculptures, photographs, etc.) into the church and bring together the "sacred" dimension of the studio and that of the place of worship.This year, painter Marianne Laurencis will be exhibiting 12 paintings, all inspired by the village and its surroundings: "Si Vergnies m'était conté".

Laurence Dervaux is offering us a striking experience in the church of Saint Nicolas de Myre. She suspended gigantic glass drops from the ceiling. Each drop is filled with a red liquid whose volume corresponds to the amount of blood in the bodies of children, women and men. Commentators will help visitors to (re)discover the archaeological subsoil with the saint's tomb, the architecture of the sanctuary with the help of models, the chariot of the Tour Sainte-Gertrude, the Charles V panel, the stalls of the canonesses, the oriental choir and the contemporary shrine by F. Roulin, all to the sound of medieval or baroque religious music. Schurhoven pilgrimage church. The church, located Schurhoven 47, was mentioned as early as 1215. Sint-Truiden was on the pilgrimage route from Cologne to Brussels and so on to St James in Compostella, Spain.
Guided tours from 10am to 2pm, maximum 10 participants per tour.
An organ concert with hunting horns conducted by Ivo Smets from 2.15pm to 3.15pm. -
From the church of Sainte-Aldegonde, the tour will take you to the Tunnel des Amoureux, a bucolic path linked to the Goûter matrimonial, recognised in 2023 as a masterpiece of the FWB's oral and intangible heritage. It then goes on to the Château de la Follie, rebuilt at the end of the 18th century and now exceptionally open. Easily accessible for PRMs, Saint-Martin is one of the town's three main churches. It was built in neo-Gothic style between 1907 and 1914.
