  • In a period before Belgium existed, Laurent-Benoît Dewez (1731-1812) was undoubtedly the most prominent architect in our region. As court architect to the Austrian governor Charles of Lorraine, he was known for his contributions to neoclassical architecture, a style popular during the late 18th century. More specifically, his oeuvre was dominated by the creation of a unitary ‘Eglise Belgique’.
    Today, Dewez's vast oeuvre is still present in our (Leuven) streetscape. Yet only a select few still seem to know him....

  • For several years now, summer exhibitions have been held in Dendermonde's Church of Our Lady under the heading ‘IN SITU’. In 2024 it was Antoon Van Dyck's Calvary's turn, focusing on the restoration of this masterpiece. In 2025, it will be artist Harold Van de Perre's turn with his stained-glass window ‘Heavenly Jerusalem’ located in the right transept of the church.   • The organ concert on 1 July will be given by Joost Termont. He too is a versatile man. He plays organ, harpsichord. But he has also made his mark as a singer and chorister. He composes himself and has been a teacher at several music academies and the conservatory. Joost used to be organist at the Holy Sepulchre and at St Peter's Church. He lets us enjoy works by Bach, Arvo Pärt, Roelstraete, among others.
