From May 11, 2019, discover the painter and sculptor Duilio Donzelli with an exhibition at the Saint-Jean-Baptiste church in Lacroix-sur-Meuse and bus tours through the department.
Duilio Donzelli, a painter and sculptor who trained in Italy, settled in Meuse in 1924. He worked to rebuild and beautify about thirty churches damaged during the First World War.
Churches were once again the focus of attention this weekend (June 6–7, 2026), specifically as “places of remembrance.” This is not only because memorials can be found in or near almost all churches, some of which commemorate terrible events. They are also places of personal remembrance for many residents of Luxembourg.
Strong interest among the population and tourists in the cultural heritage of the nobility, which can be found in the churches.
Once again this year, the traditional Open Church Days took place on the first weekend in June. The theme was: flowers and plants. 58 churches opened their doors, in many places with a special programme.
