Cathedral | XIII-XV | Gothic | Catholic Church
For the first time, more than 250 paperweights from the 19th century to the present day are being presented in the form of an original historical and artistic journey through the collections of the Treasury of Liège Cathedral. This collection stands out for its great diversity. Visitors will discover glass produced by Saint-Louis, Baccarat and Clichy, contemporary pieces by Studio Glass and popular objects. Sections of glassmaking history, often forgotten or rarely considered, are brought to light. The prestigious Val-Saint-Lambert crystal works, with their unrivalled expertise, are given special treatment. Between prestigious pieces and ‘bousillage’, the work carried out by the workers in their spare time, technique and poetry blend together. Everyone is free to abandon themselves to the seduction of shapes and colours, to follow the paths of dreams and mystery. This project pays tribute to the master glassmakers and creators of yesterday and today, as well as to the anonymous workers and women behind the scenes, without whom nothing was, nothing is.
