Cathedral | XVII-XX | Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque | Catholic Church
In the classic handbooks, the first church network is primarily attributed to the large monasteries that were located on the territory of present-day Luxembourg. The major role played by the landed gentry in the founding of churches is usually overlooked because it is unfortunately less well documented. Using selected examples, this illustrated lecture shows the role of the nobility as church founders and benefactors from the early Middle Ages to the beginning of the Renaissance.
The lecture by Michel Margue, university of Luxembourg, is in Luxembourgish.
