Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd June 2019
Saturday 01 June 2019
Every year, on the first weekend of June, Open Church Days celebrate our religious heritage.
For this 12th edition, we suggest that you draw your inspiration from the "Emotions".
Because religious buildings are like kaleidoscopes radiating a thousand lights. They are anchored in the mysteries of the invisible, shaped by the pride or humility of generations, vibrating with intense musical waves... Impossible to remain insensitive to all the stories they whisper! Doesn't the procession of their statues stir up excitement? And the caress of the polished reliefs of soft feelings? Let yourself be touched, in depth...
On 5 and 6 June, the 14th "JEO" will be held throughout Belgium. In 2019, more than 500 places of worship will offer a weekend of rich and varied activities to an unusual public. In 2021, with the theme "Church, red thread", let's try to beat this record! Online registration is extended until 31 March.
In spite of the health crisis and its share of restrictions, the four national entities of the Open Churches network have found different ways to continue to promote the religious heritage and to open it up to as many people as possible.
