Les Chantres du Thoronet
Part 1 Jean Delobel, François Nolle, Damien Poisblaud, Nicolas Vinçotte The vocal ensemble Les Chantres du Thoronet was founded in 2008 after encountering the Abbey of Thoronet, with its exceptional acoustics, with the aim of reviving the treasure of Gregorian chant in its original beauty and expressiveness. The ensemble sang there every Sunday for eight years, hence its name. Today, it has up to ten singers. A lively and original musicological approach places Les Chantres du Thoronet at the crossroads of the oral traditions of the Mediterranean world. They perform internationally and have won several awards (Diapason d'Or) for their CDs. They have recorded the Tenebrae for Good Friday at Fontfroide Abbey (to be released in 2026). Part 2(A rediscovered 9th-century treatise on music)Aneta Wierzbicka, soprano, violinMarcin Wierzbicki, organ, electronic musicThe treatise Musica enchiriadis is attributed to Odo of Cluny. Although he was not the author, he followed the principles set out in the nineteen chapters of this work in his music. A thousand years later, does this collection of ‘music lessons’ have only historical value, or can it still serve as inspiration for a contemporary composer? Listen and judge for yourself.
