More than 700 years ago, Thomas von Siebenborn was Lord of Septfontaines and companion in arms to Emperor Henry VII, who died in his arms in Buonconvento (Italy) in 1313. Knight Thomas then returned to Septfontaines and had a church built, or rather enlarged the existing church. There is already evidence of a church here in 1205 and 1301. It was consecrated in 1317, exactly 708 years ago. The journey to Septfontaines, the second oldest church in Luxembourg, is definitely worthwhile.
The guided tours start on the hour.
Food and drink are provided at the ‘De Simmer Weekend’ festival next to the church.
