Description

A document from 1330 attests to the presence of a parish church of St Peter and Paul on the site of the Wolwener Klaus at the entrance to the village. This church was demolished in 1783 and the current church was built in the village centre between 1783 and 1785. Initially, only the nave was built, as the bell tower was erected later by the parishioners.

The high altar made of oak wood, which was made in 1917 by the Welter brothers from Gilsdorf, features the Sorrowful Mother of God with the seven swords in her heart. It dates back to the 17th/18th century and comes from the old church.

There are also two reliefs made of slate, on the right the lady of Bondorf Castle and on the left her stepson Wolfram as a penitent hermit. The windows by Mett Hoffmann from the middle of the 20th century depict the fourteen holy helpers and the Wolfram legend.
