Saint-Pierre de Dompierre aux Bois church (Meuse) is a neo-Romanesque building rebuilt in 1932. It has a single nave separated from the apse at the furnace neck by a semicircular arch transept. The wooden structure is supported by stone "corbels" and supports the vault of the panelled ceiling. The choir houses the former high altar and two small side altars dedicated to the Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph.
On 22 September 1914, this church was the scene of a tragic event: the bombardments by the French artillery, in its attempt to dislodge the Germans living in the village, caused 24 civilian casualties and 17 wounded among the inhabitants locked up in the church. A stained glass window recalls this episode: the crucified Christ, with his crown of thorns, his side and hands pierced; the cup and host symbolizing the body delivered and the blood shed.
