Description
This large church in the centre of the town, next to the casino and the baths, only dates from 1885 but as it is in Rhenish Neo Romanesque style, it gives the impression of being much older. It is built with a unique Ardennes stone.
Inside, there are several carved or painted works worth seeing: the high altar, the pulpit, a high relief of angels in the right transept, six beautiful wooden statues of saints in the upper part of the central nave and various paintings. The church also has a new organ which blends harmoniously with the other fixtures.
Queen Marie-Henriette, King Leopold II’s consort, who stayed many times in Spa donated the stained glass window in the left transept. She went to Mass here every Sunday and her funeral was here in 1902.

Remarkable elements
High altar and pulpit
The high altar and the pulpit were executed by the sculptor Pierre Peeters of Antwerp, based on the drawings of architect C. Sonneville. They were made of Botticino marble.
Fresco
The apse of the church, as in the Romanesque Rhine churches that imitate the Byzantine churches, is decorated with a fresco. The central figure is the risen Christ surmounted by the Father and the Holy Spirit.
Statues
In the upper part of the central nave, there are six beautiful wooden statues by the Liège sculptor Guillaume Evrard, from Jean Del Cour's school.
Organ
The new organ of the Spa church, a large "eight feet on display" with two manual and pedal manuals of 26 stops with 1642 pipes of all sizes. From the smallest (1 cm) to the largest (5.28 m).
Statue of Saint Remacle
Polychrome wooden statue of Saint Remacle (around 1520) that once adorned the chapel of Le Loup. It was magnificently restored by the Royal Institute of Artistic Heritage (IRPA).
High relief
Memorial of the Brotherhood of the Holy Sacrament, high relief by the Liège sculptor Jean Del Cour, dating from 1669.

Sur les traces de la reine Marie-Henriette, épouse du roi Léopold II…
Cette dernière a séjourné longtemps à Spa. Elle offrit le vitrail du transept gauche de l’église Notre-Dame et Saint-Remacle. Elle assistait chaque dimanche à la messe dans cette église où eurent lieu aussi ses funérailles en 1902.
