Since at least 1495, the procession in honour of Saint Leonard has taken place on Whit Monday in the picturesque village of Sint-Lenaarts in the Noorderkempen. The life and deeds of Saint Leonard are central to this procession and are depicted with the help of some 650 participants, most of whom are children from local primary schools.
In addition to St. Leonard, this procession also includes veneration of the Virgin Mary and the Eucharist. -
On Whit Monday, the sea is traditionally blessed in Wenduine. Central to this event is the evocation of the legend of the Holy Cross.
