The 2021 Open Church Days have opened the tourist season!

Thursday 17 June 2021

On the eve of the deconfinement, the Belgian and Luxembourg branches of the non-profit organization Eglises Ouvertes chose to maintain the Open Church Days on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 June. A winning bet, since participants (more than 250 places of worship organized an activity, 53 of them for the first time) and visitors were well and truly present! A look back at a weekend of culture, history and openness.

In spite of the sanitary limitations still in force this first weekend of June, the annual event of religious heritage offered a large choice of places of worship (Protestant, Orthodox and Catholic this year) to discover with the family. Indeed, if 250 places have specially concocted for the occasion an activity (outdoor concerts or in very small groups, tours, hikes, opening of places usually closed to the public ...), nearly 280 other jewels of heritage have left their doors open to anyone who wanted to visit them in free wheel.

The media throughout the country also widely reported the event from Friday, June 4. BEL-RTL, La Première, all local TV stations, l'Avenir, and many others reported on it.

An encouraging signal for the future conservation of this common heritage!

The French branch of Eglises Ouvertes will follow with its "Nuit des églises" on July 3 and 4.
