Denderwindeke's church contains a number of treasures. Some are directly visible such as the remains (inside and outside) of the late Gothic church (14-15 century), the tombstone of Petrus Kindekens - founder of the American College in Leuven - or the bluestone niche chapels with coloured terracotta of OLV of seven woe.
Others normally remain hidden. Especially for this Open Churches Days, we open the access to the attic for the good climber. It will be possible that day to take a look at the gigantic attic and the gabled roof above the nave of the church .
Those who want can also - there is a walking route - go and have a look at the Church of Our Lady of Light in Lieferinge. There, the building's exterior volume and attics betray a complex building history. Remnants of a Romanesque church are still visible. In the attic of the south aisle, 57 carved early Gothic mask heads can be seen on the eaves.
