Autumn – November – All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day. A time to pause and reflect on the passing of loved ones, past and present. With beautiful texts – sometimes light prose, sometimes poetry – and wonderful music, we want to spend that afternoon exploring the themes of farewell, grief and mourning.
Music does not bring the dead back, but it allows many people to live a little again. There is emptiness and loss. Silence. But there is also light, trust, hope and comfort.
Stay close to me, an intimate concert. Potters Brass is a brass quintet that owes its name to the unique composition of this group. Four of the five musicians come from the same family. Dad Paul and his three daughters Els, Leen and Tine, and family friend Kris Van Hees are united by the same musical passion! They perform classical works by Bach, Pachelbel and Puccini as well as film music and beautiful pop songs.
Farchod Yuldashev (violin) and Sara Van Gucht (piano) are now familiar faces to the Gaudioso audience.
Farchod began studying the violin in his former homeland of Uzbekistan and continued after moving to Belgium in 1999. This professional musician has experience in both orchestral and chamber music, nationally and internationally.
Sara grew up with music and, in addition to being a teacher of religion, English and history, she is also an organist and conductor and the driving force behind the Gaudioso team.
On 2 November, she will once again have the pleasure of accompanying her former student Farchod. Together they will perform works by Chopin, César Franck, Bach, Handel, Eugène Ysaÿe and Arvo Pärt. Luc Vervliet and Ria Toelen have chosen a number of texts to accompany the music like a warm, soft blanket. With the words of writers and poets, they give voice to emotions of sadness and hope, tears and comfort.

On Sunday 19 October at 10 a.m., there will be another concert mass in St Peter's Church in Turnhout. The Vialta chamber choir started out as a modest family choir in 1989. At that time, it was conducted by Herman De Houwer. Since then, it has grown into a fully-fledged chamber choir. The choir members find joy and pleasure in singing beautiful and challenging music together, working together to create a beautiful choral sound. And they do so as a close-knit group of friends.
The choir's activities are often linked to cultural life in and around Hoogstraten. For example, Vialta sings every year in the Holy Blood Procession and their singing regularly warms up the Christmas period in Hoogstraten.Since 2016, the musical direction of Vialta has been in the expert hands of Sander Le Roy. Under his leadership, Vialta has already sung And so it goes (2017), Columbus (2018), A Christmas Tale (2018), If music be the food of love (2019), Were you there (2019), Somewhere over the rainbow (2022), Monteverdi (2022), Noorderlicht (2023) and Sing, Sing, Sing (2024).In November 2021, they participated in the World Choir Games and won a gold medal (Open competition Mixed vocal ensembles & Chamber Choirs) and a silver medal (Open competition Musica Sacra with accompaniment).
On 19 October, they will perform Jacob De Haan's five-part mass.
They will also sing the following pieces: Entrance: Cantate Domino - G. O. Pitoni Interlude: Search me o Lord - Ch. Ives Offertory: Ubi Caritas - O. Gjeilo Communion: Set me as a seal - R. Clausen Final song: The road home - St. Paulus
