Jasper Depraetere (°2000) took carillon lessons from the age of nine with Koen van Assche at the academy in Lier, where he later also studied bass guitar and piano. He combined his studies in Lier from the age of thirteen with an education at the Royal Carillon School in Mechelen, also with Koen Van Assche, where he graduated with distinction in 2018. Jos Van den Heuvel (born 1962) grew up in the Maaskant region of Limburg, in Eisden/Maasmechelen. He first took lessons with René Peeters, a versatile musician: organist, choral conductor and composer of vocal music, among other things. Later, Jos completed the music academy for organ with Pierre Ramakers, the titular organist of the Basilica of Scherpenheuvel. Jos also specialised in solfège, music history, harmony and word art. Piet Lincken (Belgium-Sweden, born in Normandy) is an organist, composer and pianist. Inspired by an initiative of the Rouen diocese and in partnership with it, the aim of this project is to introduce artists' works (paintings, sculptures, photographs, etc.) into the church and bring together the "sacred" dimension of the studio and that of the place of worship.This year, painter Marianne Laurencis will be exhibiting 12 paintings, all inspired by the village and its surroundings: "Si Vergnies m'était conté".

The procession starts at 2pm from the church in Barbençon. The Virgin is carried by members of the Confrérie Saint-Laurent de Beaumont and given a military escort by the Compagnie des Zouaves Pontificaux de Thuin. The procession leads the pilgrims to the chapel dedicated to Notre-Dame on the Fayt hill overlooking the village. Return to the church for the Assumption High Mass at 4pm.Procession

Vluchtelingenwerk Vlaanderen is organizing the 9th edition of the Refugee Walk on 29th September 2024 in Gent! and once again we are actively seeking for a central location to host the event.
