For several years now, summer exhibitions have been held in Dendermonde's Church of Our Lady under the heading ‘IN SITU’. In 2024 it was Antoon Van Dyck's Calvary's turn, focusing on the restoration of this masterpiece. In 2025, it will be artist Harold Van de Perre's turn with his stained-glass window ‘Heavenly Jerusalem’ located in the right transept of the church. Last year, we already got to enjoy the beautiful carillon sounds brought by Claire Janezic, who was then laureate of the International Carillon Competition in Mechelen and won the first prize of the International Carillon Interpretation Competition in Brielle (NL). Claire is currently assistant carilloneur in Turnhout and will perform a varied programme of composers such as Fiocco, Bach, Geysen, Rottiers,... With Sydney Nguyen, we bring in another student of the Royal Carillon School Mechelen and thus of Koen Van Assche. Sydney is from the US and together with colleague Claire Janezic forms the carillon duo ‘The Fellowship of the Ring’. She will play from ‘Das Wohltemperierte Klavier’ by J.S. With Iris Eysermans, we dive into the world of early organ music with composers from the 15th to 17th centuries, such as Cavazzoni, Gabrieli and Cornet. Iris not only teaches at the music academy of Turnhout and Hoogstraten, but also gives concerts at home and abroad. The season will be concluded by Rien Donkersloot who will play both carillon and organ. Rien is active as organist and carillonneur in Amersfoort, Brielle, Goes, Ridderkerk, etc. On carillon, he will let listeners enjoy a sonata by Doles, among others, but variations on a minuet by Beethoven. On organ, he will perform works by Böhm, Bach and Mozart, but will also perform an improvisation of his own. New carillon composition for 250 years of Turnhout carillon.
