The altar captivates with its chiseled flower and cob tendrils as well as its baroque carving.
She is depicted with a Bible on which her eyes can be seen. According to the legend, she was born blind, but then gained sight through her baptism. She is the patron saint of the eye sick and blind, and patron saint of Alsace.
St. Valentine is venerated here as the patron saint of pigs and as a helper against epilepsy. But he is also the patron saint of lovers and is said to help to a good engagement and marriage. He is celebrated almost worldwide on 14 February by all lovers.
The Stations of the Cross show the suffering of Christ in 14 stations, from his condemnation to his execution. It is interesting that two of these stations are located here on the front wall of the gallery.
He was an Anglo-Saxon missionary who brought Christianity to our regions in the 7th century and founded the monastery of Echternach. Revered as a saint, he is considered the patron saint of Luxembourg and is invoked against epilepsy and skin diseases, among others.
