(Picture: medallion of saint Cunigunde) Saint Cunigunde was the wife of Emperor Henry II. She was born in Luxembourg in the 10th century. Besides the many biblical motives, certain details of the wall paintings refer to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg as well as to the diocese and the saints who played a role there.
After the Second World War, the entry hall was enlarged to create a commemorative side chapel in memory of local residents who fell in the war. On the outside wall is found a written line by the artist Aurelio Sabbatini from Esch “Ego sum Resurrectio et Vita” (I am the Resurrection and the Life) as well as the reliefs representing the coat of arms of Luxembourg and Our Lady, Consoler of the Afflicted, patroness of the country.
