The chapel of Our Lady of Bermont has been watching over the Meuse valley for more than a thousand years. It is situated in the municipality of Greux in the Vosges department, three kilometres north of the birthplace of Jehanne d'Arc. Saint Jehanne d'Arc liked to go on pilgrimage there on Saturdays and often during the week to offer candles and flowers to Our Lady, to meditate and to pray.
The foundation of this modest sanctuary is lost in the mists of time, in the shadow of Saint Maurice and Saint Martin. A humble land of the Church, a discreet witness to the history of France since Hugues Capet, the hermitage of Bermont has survived the trials of the centuries. Today, the association Notre-Dame de Bermont - sainte Jehanne d'Arc, has restored this modest sanctuary and strives to keep it alive, while respecting its history and eremitical tradition.
