The church has beautiful Ancien Régime furniture. The present church was built on old foundations around 1780, notably the bell tower, which is said to predate the 17th century.
It was the seat of two important brotherhoods: that of the Holy Guardian Angels and the Archconfraternity of Our Lady of the Fields. The first was created in 1761 by a papal bull of Pope Clement XIII. The latter also issued a bull for the erection of the altar of the Holy Guardian Angels in the church. This altar still exists today.
