Description
The reconstruction by Léon Chesnay was completed in 1933. With its porch bell tower, open on the sides and detached from the facade, it derives from neo-Romanesque models, such as a barn without pillars.
A fresco by Duilio Donzelli illuminates the choir. It shows the apostles, grouped by three and recognizable by their attributes, and angels who complete the composition on the triumphal arch. The whole is inspired by Italian painting, ranging from the Ravennate tradition to Raphael, including Giotto. Above, the vault, entirely covered with a brown mosaic, is pierced by a bright scene depicting a majestic Christ sitting on a throne and holding an open book.
The stained glass windows were made by master glassmaker Georges Janin in 1935. The church houses an organ mounted in the gallery under the bell tower, a white limestone high altar made by Dante Donzelli, baptismal font and holy water font.

Remarkable elements
The choir fresco
Created in 1935 by Duilio Donzelli, this fresco illuminates the choir with a depiction of the apostles – identifiable by their attributes – and angels on the triumphal arch. Inspired by Italian painting, from Ravenna to Raphael via Giotto, it complements the mosaic on the vault depicting Christ in Majesty. Restored in 2014, this ensemble earned the town the Rubans du Patrimoine award.
The three stone altars
The three stone altars are also the work of Duilio Donzelli, as is much of the liturgical furniture: the communion bench, the holy water fonts and the baptismal font. The high altar is adorned with a remarkable carved Christ on the cross.
The commemorative stained-glass window
The stained-glass windows were created by master glassmaker Georges Janin in 1935. Among them, one window commemorates the war victims who died ‘For God, For France’. It depicts a soldier killed in action lying at the feet of Saint Marcel, who is blessing him.
The organ
The organ, situated in the gallery beneath the bell tower, was installed in 1938. It is, however, thought to date from the 19th century.
