The Ensemble Myosotis is a variable-geometry early music group founded in Brussels in 2023 by recorder player Maureen De Smet and organist Charlène Bertholet. Driven by a shared passion for early music, the ensemble has also set itself the task of promoting Belgium's rich organ heritage. In their new programme, La Suave Melodia, the Ensemble Myosotis explores Italian music from the 16th to the 18th centuries. They perform works by composers such as A. Corelli, A. Falconieri and G. B. Pandolfi Mealli, whose pieces, originally written for the violin, are here transcribed for the recorder.
The two composers Francesca Caccini and Barbara Strozzi are also featured. Through this project, the ensemble brings out the sweetness and virtuosity of Italian baroque music, while reinventing this repertoire for new audiences.
