Description
This very old Romanesque church from the 10th or 11th century is a noteworthy building which has been modified over the centuries.
Most astonishing on the outside is the fortified tower built in the 13th century capped with a palisade, a wooden construction from which it was possible to fire on attackers. The building is what one calls a church-hall where the central nave and the two side naves are of the same height. The porch and its gate are in black marble from Theux.
Inside the ceiling panels painted in 1630 depict different saints.

Remarkable elements
Square tower
Square tower, exceptionally situated northwards. The top is decorated with protruding tower enclosures, a construction that makes it possible to shoot at the attackers. Only two examples in Belgium: Theux and Bastogne.
Painted ceilings
Main nave : boxes with pictures of the Saints.
Choir : the mysteries of the rosary by Joannes Freesingher (1689).
The left side chapel : last judgement (1698)
The right side chapel : the resurrection of Christ (1698)
Statues
Bois polychrome 1699 : saint Hermes, préfet de Rome et saint Alexandre, pape ; Vierge à l'enfant et saint Joseph à l'enfant de Jacques Viroux (1770).
Naves
Romanesque naves, imposing columns of square sections, lateral naves of the same height (unique layout).
Madonna and child
Polychrome Virgin with Child from the end of the 15th - beginning of the 16th century.
Font
Romanesque font from the end of the 11th - beginning of the 12th century. Roman basin. Gothic base.
