The Hanswijk Basilica will open its crypt doors on Saturday 31 May. The largest collection of votive children's portraits in Flanders is kept here. Works made hundreds of years ago to thank or beg for healing from the patroness of the church, Our Lady of Hanswijk. Throughout the day, musical interludes by young musicians from the Stedelijk Conservatorium will also take place in the basilica.
The Goylants Chamber Choir, conducted by Bas Groenewoud, will take you on a musical adventure, with the collaboration of the Renaissance wind ensemble Alta Capella Vianensis and organist Richard Vos. The programme includes works by Francesco Guerrero, Theodore Dubois, Giovanni Palestrina, Edvard Grieg, Daan Manneke, Benjamin Britten, Anton Bruckner, Francis Poulenc et Peter Philips. This is the annual Final Concert of May Month in Hanswijk.
Throughout the day, there will be performances by young musicians from the Stedelijk Conservatorium. Come in and be surprised by various intruments. Performances at 10am, 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm. Duration 20 minutes.
