In this talk, Barbara explores how we deal with miracles. Reviled, applauded, coveted and feared: miracles have often provoked conflicting reactions in Europe over the centuries. By studying how they were used in art, philosophy, religion and science, and how people dealt with the emotion of wonder that these miracles evoked, we can gain insight into the way intellectuals viewed the world - and themselves.
