Suites for harpsichord and viola da gamba.
As we delve into the world of François Couperin, we discover, right from his first book for harpsichord in 1713, a tribute to the Sylvains, the spirits of the woods and forests. It is through these rural references – and the imagery they evoke in us today – that we reconstruct French suites which summon the cicada and the birds, and contemplate the budding lilies, the blossoming orchards and the reeds.
