Discover the extraordinary story of Ivor Gurney, a young British poet and composer. During the First World War, he stayed in Buire-au-Bois after being wounded. During his convalescence, he wandered through the Buire countryside, which inspired his poetry and music. Before leaving for the Ypres front in 1918, he gave a concert in the Buire-au-Bois church.
Back in England, the memory of Ivor Gurney disappeared in France until two painters from Buire-au-Bois, Renière and Depla, discovered his work. For the past two years, they have been gathering documentation on this tragic figure and would like to pay tribute to him with a concert and a mural based on his poems.
The concert will be given by Maciej Pikulski (piano) and Wilfried Van den Brande (baritone).
A souvenir book is also being designed.
