Every year, we want to thank all our churchgoers, volunteers, sympathisers and friends of our Elisabet community at the end of a working year, followed by a glass of friendship. The choir Crescendo adds further voice and colour to this Eucharist.
This Meulebeek painter, artist, poet, writer and photographer travelled around with his camera from 1910 to 1959, painting the walls of St Amandus church with colourful frescoes and Latin texts that are now hidden under a layer of paint or have disappeared due to major changes to the church in the 1960s. The Open Churches Days are an ideal opportunity to show these treasures to the wider public. The photos were digitised by Peter Raedt who has them in his private possession and made a selection for us in film version.
Pascal Platel takes on the role of Elisabet, Mary's niece, and in her own quirky way tells the ancient story of Jesus and brings it back to life in our time. 31 May is also Elisabet's feast day and so we also want to close the May month especially with her performance. This fits completely with the theme of the Open Churches Days. Bringing the richness of the old story back to life. Amidst the beautiful church interior of this church.
