Church | XI-XII | Romanesque | Catholic Church
Standing on the heights of Liège for over a thousand years, the Romanesque church of Saint-Gilles first received the prayers of a community of monks, then those of a parish of miners and finally, today, those of dozens of pilgrims who come to invoke Saint Gilles or to meditate in front of the relics of Blessed Eugénie Joubert. A visit stripped of all encyclopaedic detail, but sprinkled with humour and anecdotes, against a backdrop of popular religion.
A talk by Thierry Jacquemin on the so-called places around the church and Liège, illustrated with archive images and old parish documents.
