The chapel was only built in 1840, as the inscription above the entrance door proves. Before that, Breidfeld had no churches or chapel, and the villagers had to go to Holler for every service. . The site for the building was provided free of charge by a resident at the time, while the building itself came about through many a donation and the labour of the residents. In 1930 two bells were installed in the tower, the oldest of which was damaged during the Rundstedt offensive in 1945 and replaced by a new one in 1947.
The antique glass enclosed in lead and black solder was designed by Gustav Zanter in 1989. The colourfulness of the abstract, free composition conjures up a variety of different light effects.
The sweeping wooden construction (communion bench) separates the altar area from the nave and consists of balusters whose rows are interrupted by rectangular fields with gilded carvings.
This original flooring consists of alternating slate slabs and tiles with a peacock and tree of life motif; both embody immortality, resurrection, and paradise respectively.

Son of wealthy parents, he later retired to the desert as a hermit. He is the patron saint of domestic animals, especially pigs, which is why he was particularly revered by the rural population.
Here is the monogram of Christ, the Chi-Rho, which is formed from the two Greek letters X (Chi) and P (Rho) and is an abbreviation of the title "Christ" (the Anointed).

He was an Italian jurist, theologian, bishop of Sant' Agata dei Goti near Naples and founder of the Redemptorist order. He was canonized in 1839 and elevated to Doctor of the Church in 1871.
