Description
Damaged during the two world conflicts, it was restored after each conflict. A commemorative glass roof created in 1952 by a master glassmaker from Nancy, the Benoît frères workshop, represents Saint Martin ordering the armistice on the banks of the Rhine; it bears the following commemorative inscriptions: "Saint-Martin/ impose/the armistice on/the banks of the Rhine" and "In memory of the dead of the war1914-1918/11 November 1918"; another stained glass window representing Joan of Arc commemorates the Second World War.
Inside we can see "the apparition of the child Jesus to Saint Anthony of Padua", an oil on canvas from the 17th century; inspired by Murillo's works, this painting represents an ecstasy of Saint Anthony of Padua receiving on his knees the vision of the child Jesus. It could have belonged, before the Revolution, to a Franciscan convent. Indeed, during its exhibition at the Petit Palais in 1916, the title given to it confused Saint Anthony of Padua and Saint Francis of Assisi.
Ideally situated in the centre of the village, the church is reflected in the gayoir.
