In Luxembourg, the tradition of St. Nicholas Day is on the list of intangible cultural heritage. But who was this man to whom children in Luxembourg have been writing wish lists on 6 December for generations? And who is depicted in statues and images in many places throughout the year, not just in churches? Where did he come from? What legends surround his life and work, and what does the tradition look like in Luxembourg?
The exhibition presents his legends and depictions of the celebrations that began in his honour. Historical documentation from the 1940s to the 1980s is also on display.
