Open Church Days - 6 and 7 June 2020

An unprecedented formula for this year’s edition of 2020

Despite the challenges arising from the Coronavirus outbreak, the 2020 edition of the Open Church Days on Saturday the 6th and Sunday the 7th of June will still proceed as planned. Open Churches Europe together with the 4 national entities have made an effort to adjust the event to be in accordance with the measures of all governments involved.

The form of the event therefore will change, but the content will remain: “To offer to all the possibility, user or not, to visit and to unlock our combined religious heritage.”

And what if Covid-19 mandates from us to plan our tourism in our own region?

In Belgium

More than 200 buildings spread over the entire country will be accessible on the 6th and 7th of June and will be offering you a 4-star welcome.

The most recent cautionary measures declared by the government will be clearly visible at the entrance (little by little entry, limited number of visitors at the same time, the wearing of a mouth mask,...)

Due to limitations concerning the route and the framework, we recommend you go and visit the buildings in your hometown or in neighboring towns and cities. One can easily visit multiple buildings in the neigborhood: neo-gothic, roman, modern, baroque, orthodox, evangelical, catholic,... all architectural styles and visions are to be found in our little country.

It is also interesting to know that several buildings will be offering a musical surprise on Sunday the 7th of June at 2pm and this thanks to the collaboration with the carillonist or the local DJ. So listen carefully on D-Day or consult our website on a regular basis (under the tab JEO 2020) or on our Facebook page.
