Church | XII-XV & XVIII | Neogothic | Roman Catholic Church
"Ready to go?" You are invited to take to the road as a medieval man or woman. Do you feel like a craftsman, a cleric, a nun, a merchant, a pilgrim, a soldier or an aristocrat? By land or water, these individuals with diverse motivations and destinations travel more or less long distances, on a daily or exceptional basis. Their movements, punctuated by various stops, are the subject of meetings, exchanges and discoveries of new commodities, techniques and materials. Far from the stereotype of an immobile medieval world, on the way, a whole adventure is taking shape!
The exhibition is accompanied by a publication entitled "Travellers, on the way! Circumstances and objectives of human mobility in the Middle Ages, water and land routes" (MPMM Papers; 13). The PDF of this publication will be freely downloadable from www.cahiersdelampmm.be
Exhibition accessible from Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 6pm at the MPMM.
