3 & 4 June 2023Lecture by Bert Hoogewijs: Johan Ulenaers has taken high-resolution photographs of the figurative stained-glass windows in the church of Zaffelare. One of the difficulties in photographing the windows is that only 4 windows can be seen in full, the other 11 are partly hidden behind one of the side altars, the high altar or upper parts of the pews. 3 & 4 June 2023Philippe Roelandt will play a selection of works from the 19th and 20th centuries, highlighting the different sound palettes of the Merklin organ (a leading figure in 19th century Belgian organ building). Free participation: the funds raised will contribute to the restoration of the instrument. -
3 & 4 June 2023Bert Vervaet : The church of Zaffelare possesses a unique collection of stained-glass windows from the Ghent workshop Gustave Ladon. Among others, 15 large figurative windows testify to particularly high quality glaziers' art. They were installed between 1901 and 1906 during the partial renovation and enlargement of the church. The subjects and listed donors recall a fascinating local history.
