Saint Amandus was very active in the Dender region. Many churches in our region bear his name but not in Appelterre-Eichem.... Could we not find any details about the great story of Amandus after all? According to tradition, Amandus should have literally "walked" or "swam" between Pollare and Eichem. Was he welcomed with open arms? A spectacular legend that did not make it into "The Story of Flanders"...
