The Saint-Michel church is one of the oldest places of worship in the city.
In 987, Count Sigefroi had a small chapel built on the site of the present church.
Over the centuries, the church has been destroyed and rebuilt, modified and enlarged many times over.
Its current appearance corresponds to the one it received in 1688.
Due to its eventful history, the building, which was restored in the 1960s and 1980s, now combines elements of Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque architecture.
