The foundation stone of the church in Elvange was laid in 1859. The inner decoration with the church furnishings, which were designed by architect Charles Arendt, represent a harmonious ensemble in Gothic Revival style that remains to this day. It was an artist from Elvange, church painter Nicolas Brücher, who created the sumptuous polychrome mural paintings in the interior (1930-1931) which combine elements of the “Nazarene” style as well as Art Nouveau. In addition, the same artist designed the windows (1914, 1927). Also worth mentioning are several 18th century sculptures originating from the Greeff workshop in Altwies.
