31 MAY - 1 JUNE 2025On the occasion of the Open Churches Days, some old liturgical vestments are on display. The beautiful multicoloured embroidery deserves to be brought out of the darkness (for a while). In addition, the statues of saints that were taken from the attic and given a place of honour in our church also deserve special attention. They are masterpieces of woodcarving art. -

31 MAY - 1 JUNE 2025At Tongeren's Our Lady Basilica, you can visit the treasury every day, filled with valuable and ancient church treasures (https://teseum.be/). Or its archaeological underground site with churches built from the 4th century onwards. Or the museum story of the church tower that was also a belfry. But, for the occasion of Open Churches Days, we found enough beautiful treasures in our attics to fill several more exhibition cabinets in the large choir of the Basilica. 31 MAY - 1 JUNE 2025During the weekend of the Open Churches Days, we will open our church to present to visitors our polychrome stations of the sross in bas-relief, as well as the several valuable paintings, including those by the Veurn painter Vigor Boucquet (Saint Carolus Boromeus and the Plague Sufferers of Milan) to the general public, as well as the recently installed commemorative fire-glass window and memorabilia from the Holy Family Church of the Brandhoek neighbourhood demolished last year.Church treasures Sint-Vedastus church

31 MAY - 1 JUNE 2025On the occasion of the 18th Open Churches Days of 2025 on 31 May and 1 June, paintings by Koen Penninck will be on display at Velzeke church. Besides his two permanent works, Broken Christ (2016) and Resurrected Christ (2007), visitors will have the chance to admire a wider selection from his oeuvre. In 2024, all objects in St Martin's Church were inventoried. Each piece was photographed and described. 31 MAY - 1 JUNE 2025The Hanswijk Basilica will open its crypt doors on Saturday 31 May. The largest collection of votive children's portraits in Flanders is kept here. Works made hundreds of years ago to thank or beg for healing from the patroness of the church, Our Lady of Hanswijk. Throughout the day, musical interludes by young musicians from the Stedelijk Conservatorium will also take place in the basilica. -
