It is also a city with a rich past to which the many top works of art attest. This is certainly true in St John's Church. Not only does it have The Adoration of the Magi by Peter Paul Rubens on display, there are also unique 14th-century murals hidden in the tower.

This will take place in the church itself and during the Open Church Days, the restorers will be happy to talk to you and you can literally come and look on their hands. 1 & 2 June 2024The cross on the tower is from 1928 and was made by "Frans Barbieur ", blacksmith on the Biest. The cross became slanted due to storm "Eunice" in February 2022. As a result, the cross had to be removed to restore its anchorage. On 2 June, the tower cross will be set up in the church for viewing.
