Onze-Lieve-Vrouw Hemelvaart

In order to showcase the restoration of the church in the light it deserves, on the occasion of OPEN CHURCH DAY on Sunday 2 June next, the church administration would like to open the tower to visitors to get a view of our village from a height of 46 metres and give them the opportunity to admire with their own eyes the restoration works carried out over the last 30 years from the inside and to take a look at the centuries-old vaults of the church.

Everyone cordially invited, after which there will be time to chat over a cup of coffee or....

At the back of the church, a ‘Heritage Prokkel’ is available for those interested at the price of €2. An illustrated brochure published by the East Flanders Provincial Administration about the church of Our Lady of Assumption of Bassevelde.

Anyone wishing to visit the tower does so at their own risk and free will and follows the instructions given. The church administration cannot be held liable for possible accidents.

On the occasion of Open Churches and the accompanying visit to the tower, we make a warm appeal to all those in possession of a painting, drawing or picture of our church to exhibit it in the church on that day.
