A stone church was built in 1538, replacing a wooden structure that existed at least as early as 1132. The church suffered from religious disputes and in 1599, a fire broke out that destroyed the church. In 1606, the church was further damaged by storms. In 1610, the church was rebuilt. In 1836, the church was enlarged in neo-classical style. The tower of 1538 was retained in the process.
This is an oriented neo-classical church building with a built-in sandstone tower. It has a high gabled spire. The side facades are in brick with sandstone courses that connect to the - possibly 18th-century - side chapels.
The church possesses a wooden statue of the Virgin Mary from around 1700. The side chapels contain 17th-century baroque-style confessionals. The pulpit is from the mid-18th century and in Louis XV style. The main altar and side altars are in Baroque style.
